I really need someones honest opinion. My vehicle was stolen right out of my driveway a few nights ago. I am hoping that it is recovered, but in the event that it is not. How does my insurance co determine how much they will give me for the vehicle? Please explain in dumby terms because I am not in this line of work. I appreciate all the help you have to offer.

My husband and I live in Ontario and currently share one vehicle. He insists on keeping the insurance papers and plate registration in his wallet but if I need the car I have to get them from him each time (of course, if we get stopped we can be ticketed for not having the papers). The problem is, we are both extremely busy and sometimes forget to give them back to each other and find ourselves driving without the papers. My question is, where is the best place to keep these papers (I've heard you shouldn't keep them in the car in case its stolen) AND/OR are they valid if photocopied and one of us keeps THOSE copies in our wallet? I've heard that using a true copy, whatever that is, is accepted but that some police officers won't accept them at true if you're stopped. This is becoming a real problem for us...please help!

So I went onto some comparison web sites and put my mum as main driver and me as the named driver and I was getting quotes of around 1900 (Fully comp). I have not passed my test you but when asked on insurance website's I have put under the 'time held licence for as 1 month just to get a realistic view. Basically i got my car insurance on the 21st may. And i payed the amount in full. I asked, when the documents ill be arriving and they sed with 5working days. But nothing came.
